The  Skills for Life Bootcamp in Health and Social Care is designed to prepare you for a rewarding career in the social care sector. Closely aligned with the knowledge and competencies required for the Level 2 Care Certificate, this programme provides an ideal entry route for individuals new to care or looking for a structured induction. 

Delivered with the support of Kent County Council and delivered to Kent and Medway residents.

 

Over 7 weeks, this bootcamp covers the essential foundation for anyone starting a career in care, You'll also have the chance to specialise in areas such as Dementia an End-of-Life Care or Medication Administration once you move into employment.

Whether you're new to care or looking to build on existing experience, this bootcamp not only builds knowledge but also develops confidence, employability, and readiness for real-world social care roles.

What You'll Learn:

​

Generalist Route (7 Weeks)

• Week 1 – Your role and duty of care as a social care worker

• Week 2 – Health and safety & infection control

• Week 3 – Understanding mental health and learning disabilities (Autism, Dementia)

• Week 4 – Food safety, nutrition & diabetes awareness

• Week 5 (Face-to-Face) – Moving & handling procedures, Emergency First Aid

• Week 6 – Digital technologies & interview skills

• Week 7 – Awareness of medication & end-of-life care

Specialist Routes (Optional Continuation After Employment)

Dementia Care & End-of-Life Care (Weeks 8–10)

• Communicating around death and dying

• Principles of end-of-life and dementia care

• Supporting individuals with dementia

Medication Administration (Weeks 8–10)

• Safe record-keeping and auditing

• Understanding different types of medication

• Storage, supply, and legislation for medication
